Fully plastic-free product and packaging.

These expanding compostable sponges are hand-printed, creating valuable work experience. Made from natural cellulose and cotton fibres, they are free from micro- and nano-plastics, helping reduce plastic pollution in waterways, soil and food systems. Great for workplace kitchenettes, kitchens and bathrooms, they are non-abrasive and safe for dishes, mugs, food containers, non-stick cookware and worktops.

This product creates real social value in the UK:

  • 13 minutes of paid work for homeless and disabled people

  • Equivalent of 9 plastic bottles avoided

  • £152+ social value (equivalent cost saving to society)

This product arrives packed using recycled and reused materials, including newspaper offcuts, cardboard offcuts salvaged from local businesses, and where possible, reused boxes. These steps help drive down carbon and waste. Please reuse or recycle everything you can.

Heat Tolerance and Washing

Cellulose sponges can be machine washed up to 90°C and have been tested through 10+ wash cycles while maintaining performance. They can also be sanitised in the dishwasher (top rack) or microwaved damp for up to 2 minutes to help reduce bacteria and odours.

Care and Lifespan

Rinse thoroughly after use, squeeze out excess water, and allow to air dry in a well-ventilated area. With regular cleaning and proper care, these sponges can last for weeks or even months, often outlasting conventional plastic sponges in typical kitchenette environments. Replace when signs of wear or deterioration appear.

End-of-Life Disposal

When the sponge reaches the end of its life, simply cut it into smaller pieces and add it to your compost bin. Alternatively, it can be disposed of with general waste. As it is made from natural wood pulp and cotton fibres, it offers a lower-impact alternative to conventional plastic sponges.
