Our ACTION to Net Zero
Amplify Goods has operated a documented, action-oriented Net Zero programme since inception. We are part of the UN Race to Zero via the Business Climate Hub, with a near-term Net Zero target of 2030.
Annual measurement and disclosure
We have measured full Scope 1–3 emissions every year since 2021 using SME Climate Hubs free tools, and in every year we have removed more carbon than we emitted:
2021/2 - Emissions: 24.6t CO₂e Removed ~30t CO₂e
2023 - Emissions 6.67t CO₂e Removed ~15.3t CO₂e
2024 - Emissions 84t CO₂e* Removed ~89.06t CO₂e (peatland and 200+ trees planted)
2025 - Emissions 48.9t CO₂e Removed ~616t CO₂e (drawdown from 2,000 mangrove trees planted).
We love mangrove trees!
For 2023/2024 We were independently certified NeutralCarbonZone Blue, which was super helpful, but we’ve since transitioned to reporting solely through SME Climate Hub, which we consider the more scalable framework for our ongoing trajectory and our budget - putting the money instead in the hands of people that need it, to live.
Key Actions TO DATE
2026 May Resigned and relaunched sponges with new shape to reduce waste! Boom. Four sponges now perfectly tesselate!
Year 4 Move to four different secondary packaging boxes utilising laser cut used cardboard - further reducing our impact.
2025 September The launch of SUDZERO with a 84%+ reduction in carbon compared to ready to use products, 100% plastic free refills, made in the UK and utilising compostable and reused cardboard for packaging.
2025 August We completed our first two LCAs with Devera in the run up to the SUDZERO launch.
2025 January We launched a plastic bottle for re:mind but made it in the UK using 100% recycled ocean plastic - and its ‘Refill First’ so not a single use bottle. As plastic bottles go, this one is better than average - but we’ll keep working to make things even better.
YEAR 3 (up to end 2024) We measured our Scope 1-3 emissions with Normative: 84t CO2e. Though we appreciate its not the answer, we do think its better to act to globally protect carbon sinks and plant trees so we also removed approximately 16.67t CO2e and additionally planted 235 mangrove trees, which are likely to draw down 72t CO2e during their life, and have a good chance of survival and likely natural propagation.
2024 November Launch of first 100% water and plastic free product; solidarity bar soap, using upcycled ingredients and locally sourced packaging - with box turning into a bookmark after use.
2024 July We reduced the thickness of all wall brackets from 3mm 304 stainless steel to 2mm stainless steel. At the same time we reduced the distance from metal worker to powder coater to us from 250+ miles to under 80 miles. We also made the decision to use more of our cash flow to buy in full sheets, optimising the use of stainless steel and reducing waste.
YEAR 2 (up to end 2023) We measured our Scope 1-3 emissions with Normative: 6.67t CO2e. Though we appreciate its not the answer, we do think its better to act to globally protect carbon sinks and plant trees so we also removed approximately 15.3t CO2e.
2023 November Launch of locally mixed eco diffuser blend, using three natural ingredients - and packed in a reused 1L aluminium cannister that can be returned for reuse. [When compared to small refills, often plastic, creating a lot of waste, and higher carbon]
2023 August Amplify Goods worked with Clarasys and University of Exeter to design the circular future of soap - the first steps of SUDZERO - grounded in solid research.
YEAR 1 (up to end 2022) We measured our Scope 1-3 emissions with Normative: 24.722t CO2e. Though we appreciate its not the answer, we do think its better to act to globally protect carbon sinks and plant trees so we also removed approximately 30t CO2e.
2022 October Realising our first manufacture run of silver wall brackets lead to approximate 25% rejects due to scratched stainless steel, we redesigned, and powder coated black, allowing us to reuse dozens of rejected wall brackets [and turns out, customers preferred the black!]
2022 August Working with ReLondon, we analysed and developed a container reuse programme, utilising back haul logistics to return the 5L container to us. [Unfortunately, to date, no significant volumes have been returned - though this is offered to all distributors as standard. We have also recognised several similar programmes misrepresent 'recycling' as 'reuse'.]
2022 July Sourced paper document wallets for use with cardboard boxes, so they are recyclable together.
2022 April For our first pack day, we collected cardboard from Lush, the local shop and florist to process, cut and wrap our glass bottles. This process helped us save virgin trees and also centred reuse in our model, rather than recycling. We also ensured these first products were wrapped in newspaper offcuts, recycled paper labels, packed using used cardboard as void fill, into end of line boxes and secured with paper tape. [This process also creates a lot of valuable work!]
2022 January When designing our range, we focused on glass bottles, with dishwasher proof print, and a metal top pump tested to 50,000 presses, ensuring long life, and in doing so, reducing carbon and waste. We have always been a 'Refill First' brand, offering our bottles empty with bulk refill containers - saving carbon in packaging and transportation.
Year One Plastic Credit Exchange certified recovery, recovering 2,000kg of ocean-bound plastic; Plastic Neutral certified.
Road Map to Net Zero 2030
Key actions to reach Near-term Net Zero by 2030
Extending LCA coverage to the full product portfolio, starting with the most material products such as 5L soap — giving us verified, product-level carbon data to drive decisions and support customers' own Scope 3 reporting.
Supply chain decarbonisation: working more closely with our suppliers to optimise production runs, minimise non-reusable packaging, reduce shipping carbon, and improve quality to reduce rework and wastage. We look for our suppliers to demonstrate a significant reduction in carbon intensity from 2021 to 2030 — a minimum of 25%. That alone won't get us to Net Zero, and it will already be a huge stretch for many who are currently targeting reductions only by 2050. It signals they are the right partners for change, and we will prioritise suppliers who can show this ambition.
Growing SUDZERO as a proportion of total sales, targeting at least a 1:1 growth ratio between SUDZERO and ready-to-use liquid soap by 2027 — ensuring that as we scale, our highest-impact product leads the way.
Building closed-loop refill systems in B2B settings, targeting a 25% reuse rate for refillable containers and reusable packaging by 2027. All remaining packaging is recyclable as standard.
Energy: we deliberately limit machine usage to keep our workshop a low electricity consumer. As we grow, we will co-locate in spaces powered by 100% renewable energy, and commit to operating on a fully renewable energy basis by 2030.
Last mile logistics: switching all last mile couriers to electric-only delivery by 2028.
Formal validation: pursuing SBTi or PAS 2060 validation as the business scales, to ensure our claims meet the most rigorous independent standards available.
Annual Net Zero Progress Reports: published publicly at www.amplifygoods.org/net-zero-action for full stakeholder transparency — proof, not promises.
A note on targets and growth
As a start-up founded in 2021, absolute emissions targets create a genuinely tricky tension. Penalising growth is counterproductive when our growth displaces a dirtier incumbent — every new SUDZERO customer replaces conventional liquid soap with something 84% lower carbon. Our growth is therefore a net positive for the sector's emissions, even when our own footprint temporarily increases.
We will measure our progress using CO₂e per £100,000 of revenue, working from our 2024 baseline — the first year at which sales reached a scale that generates meaningful data. Our ambition is to reduce this intensity measure by at least 50% by 2030, reflecting genuine efficiency improvements rather than a number that punishes us for winning business.
As the business stabilises, we will set an absolute reduction commitment for Scope 1-3 emissions alongside this intensity measure, in line with Race to Zero requirements.
Avoided emissions and customer enablement
The most honest measure of our climate contribution isn't our own footprint — it's the emissions our customers avoid by switching to us. Our LCA-verified data allows us to calculate avoided emissions at the product level: a client switching from conventional liquid soap to SUDZERO avoids 84% of the carbon they would otherwise have generated, at scale. We provide this data per product to support customers' own Scope 3 reporting and procurement carbon accounting.
Our Impact Calculator at www.amplifygoods.org/impact/#impactcalc makes this tangible — clients can calculate carbon saved, plastic avoided, and social value generated directly from their spend with us.
Governance
Director-level accountability for our Net Zero commitments sits with our co-founders, Camilla and Pasha. Carbon performance is reviewed as part of our annual ESG review and considers our materiality matrix, which ensures we address the full picture — waste, water quality, biodiversity, and supply chain ethics — in proportion to our actual impact, not just what's easiest to measure.
We are not focused solely on carbon, and we won't develop carbon tunnel vision. The climate emergency is broader than one number, and our strategy reflects that.
Any suggestions, get it touch - we're all ears!
